Tempe Mayor Declares September 27 as National Living Canvas Tattoos Day

Tempe’s oldest tattoo shop, Living Canvas Tattoos, is celebrating 31 years in business and will also receive a special acknowledgment from the city.

Mayor Corey Woods will bestow the honor of recognizing Sep. 27 as Living Canvas Tattoos Day. Woods will also get a tattoo himself. That’s right!  Mayor Woods will get a new piece of art on Sunday as the shop celebrates its legacy of being the oldest single-owner tattoo shop in Arizona.

Woods worked with the owner of Living Canvas Mark Walters to plan a tattoo for his mother, whom Woods lost in 2012. “If feels like an honor and I’m very grateful,” Walters said.

The shop was honored with a proclamation following their years of service to the community along Mill Avenue right near Arizona State University
